Drought resilience refers to the ability of a system—whether it’s a community and an ecosystem to anticipate, prepare for, and adapt to the anticipated consequences of drought conditions.

Aligned with the International Drought Resilience Alliance (IDRA), the International Drought Resilience Observatory (IDRO) aims to drive transformative actions to enhance global drought resilience. Through its open-source platform, IDRO bridges the gap between scientists and decision-makers, promoting collaboration and ensuring strategies are grounded in both science and community needs.

Through Explore, you can Anticipate, Prepare, and Adapt to drought challenges by monitoring and analyzing key resilience indicators with advanced search and monitoring tools.

Discover relevant issues through interactive maps and data visualizations that simplify complex information, providing a clear view of drought risks, trends, and adaptation efforts across related regions and categories: Natural Environment, Economies, Built & Environment and People & Communities.

You will be able to gain valuable insights into how communities, ecosystems, and economies are building resilience and addressing critical challenges.

The case stories show practical examples of how communities and regions are building drought resilience.

By looking at different contexts and solutions, these stories show a broad view of what works and what’s new in addressing drought impacts and sustainable adaptation. Each case study has key indicators, challenges and measurable outcomes so you can see what works for stakeholders and decision makers.  See how collaboration and policy make a difference in reducing the vulnerabilities of ecosystems, economies, and communities globally.
